Laura Andel grew up in Buenos Aries where she studied tango performance. After that she moved to Boston and specialised in jazz and film music, before settling in New York. This recording was mastered by Elliott Sharp at Studio zOaR, New York City
Although the CD is credited to the Laura Andel Orchestra, this piece was actually performed by the Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra in Boston.

Wide Open Cage are a Paris-based trio of Silvere (machines/programming); David (guitars/bass/analogue synths) and Francois (production/mixing). Also featured here is Guillaume d'Arbonville on drums and samples. Woebegone Lullabies began as a collection of compositions for children made by Silvere and David using toys.

Interview: Basil Kirchin
Basil Kirchin began his musical career as a big band drummer, and played extensively with the Ted Heath Orchestra. Towards the end of the 1960s he began to experiment with tape manipulation, field recordings and free improvisation, and produced some recordings which were never released but became legendary.
However, one of these recordings, Quantum, has finally seen the light of day on the Trunk label, run by long-time Basil Kirchin fan Jonny Trunk.

: Like Nails in the Rain
Following the parting of ways of the 3 bass guitar version of Rothko, founder member Mark Beazley kept the name for a variety of subsequent line-ups. On this new release, he collaborates with Washington DC-based sound artist JS Adams (aka BLK w/BEAR). The album is a reaction to the events in New York of September 11th 2001. Violin on this track is by Frances Morgan.

Medicine were formed by Brad Laner in 1991, and were signed in the UK to the Creation label for a while, where they were part of the so-called 'shoegazing' scene. Recently they have gone more electronic, and become a duo consisting of Laner, and kung-fu legend Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon Lee.
